THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Pumps Workshop Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the pump workshop, ensuring all repair, overhaul, and maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high quality standard. Based in Orange, NSW this role drives productivity, team performance, customer satisfaction, and financial outcomes while maintaining compliance with all safety and operational policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Workshop Operations
Lead the day-to-day operations of the pump workshop, including repairs, rebuilds, servicing and testing
Plan and prioritise workflow to meet customer deadlines and operational targets
Monitor job progress, quality standards and workshop productivity
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance
Leadership & Safety
Lead, develop and mentor workshop technicians
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS legislation, policies and procedures
Manage workforce planning, rostering and resource allocation
Conduct performance reviews, coaching and training activities
Quality & Customer Service
Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and quality standards
Manage inspections, testing, non-conformances and corrective actions
Liaise with customers regarding job requirements, progress updates and technical support
Build and maintain strong customer relationships
Financial & Asset Management
Contribute to workshop budgets, productivity targets and financial performance
Monitor job profitability and identify efficiency improvements
Manage inventory, procurement and stock control processes
Maintain workshop equipment and assets
About you:
You’ll bring a blend of technical expertise and leadership ability. Ideally, you have:
Demonstrated experience in pump maintenance, repair, overhaul or within rotating equipment environments
Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a workshop environment
Strong understanding of mechanical systems and fault diagnosis
Sound knowledge of WHS regulations and safe work practices
Strong organisational, planning and communication skills
And personally, you demonstrate:
Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and lead a team
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
Committed to safety, quality and continuous improvement
Professional, collaborative and customer-focused
