Cabrini Health’s Postgraduate Nurse Program (ICU) is available to eligible Registered Nurses who are interested in developing their knowledge and skills in the Intensive Care Speciality. Our Registered Nurses provide care and life support to patients who are either acutely ill, at risk of developing complications or recovering from major surgery. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional patient care in a highly skilled and supportive team environment.
The Postgraduate Nurse Program (ICU) is a 12-month program commencing February 2027 (or 2nd semester intake in July 2027) and is affiliated with Monash University. The aim of the program is to provide clinicians with the knowledge and skills for advanced clinical practice within the Intensive Care Unit.
Cabrini’s ICU Department consists of a 16-bed unit and offers a full range of Level 3 adult intensive care services catering for in-patients, emergency admissions and transfers from other facilities. Our ICU Department is staffed and equipped to manage patients post-cardiac and other major surgery, respiratory failure, complex neurological/neurosurgical problems, sepsis, renal failure and multiple organ failure.

Program Structure:
The Postgraduate Nurse Program is comprised of four units of study. The course will be delivered via study days and on-line learning, requiring various competency and assessment tasks to be completed in the clinical workplace.
On successful completion of the program, the Registered Nurses will have gained sufficient credits for the award of a Graduate Certificate of Advanced Nursing (Intensive Care Nursing).
NOTE: Students will be enrolling in the Monash Master of Advanced Nursing course and exit with the Graduate Certificate of Advanced Nursing (Intensive Care Nursing).

To be eligible for the Cabrini Postgraduate Nursing program you will have:
Australian working rights
Current Registered Nurse registration with AHPRA
Victorian Working with Children Check (if applicable)
A minimum of 2 years nursing experience post registration
Commitment to quality patient care and outcomes
Excellent customer service focus and communication skills
The ability to work within the Mission and Values of Cabrini.
