About Us Good Shepherd exists to help women, girls, and their families who are experiencing hardship. We strive for them to be safe, strong, well, and connected — to embody their strength and lead full lives. We do this by delivering services and activities that support people to improve their wellbeing and driving changes to unjust systems that hold people back.

The opportunity we want and need our services to be mission-focused, client-centred, and strategy-aligned. As a Client Engagement Specialist, you will be critical to our mission and strategy.

Many people and families in Aotearoa face challenges that affect their overall wellbeing, including financial instability, family violence, and lack of access to essential resources. These challenges can prevent them from living full and healthy lives. We offer a range of tools and services to support and empower individuals and families in overcoming these obstacles.

We’re on a journey of growth, and this role will be crucial to our continued impact as we look to expand and strengthen our services and broaden our mahi in different ways. Joining us as a Client Engagement Specialist, you will engage with clients to understand their needs and connect them with the appropriate resources and assistance. We are flexible on location therefore happy to take applicants from Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington.

In this role you’ll act in line with our mission, values, and people-centred social-service approach.  Monitor our general incoming client channels and respond using a client-centred, strengths-based, and empowering approach.

Engage clients in meaningful conversations about their wellbeing, without judgment, and bringing knowledge and tools to support their empowerment.

Respond to the person’s needs by determining which of our teams can best support them. Identify other community and social services that might help the person and offer information and referrals where appropriate. Collect and create the necessary documentation and file notes to support the client.

We think you will have the following to set you up well for this opportunity experience, understanding, and a passion for mission-driven organisations and the social sector. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust and rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds. Compassionate empathy skills to understand clients' situations and provide non-judgmental support.

Understanding of financial analysis and the ability to provide sound financial guidance - or a willingness to learn our services, methods, and products. An engaging and inclusive interpersonal style to ensure cohesion and collaboration. Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to apply it to your work, products, and services.

Experience in the financial sector would be advantageous. Demonstrated experience in delivering client-centred services, with a strong focus on understanding and addressing individual needs from theory to best practice.

You’re passionate about our mission and resonate with our values of justice, zeal, audacity, and respect. You have a commitment to social justice and advocacy for marginalised communities and know we can do better by them. You have the confidence and courage to be bold in your thinking and push for the highest service delivery for our community.
