ACES Attendance Roles Mount Albert Grammar School location Auckland.
ACES (Auckland City Education Services ) is expanding and is seeking 5 people for Specialised Roles for the Attendance Service Team. ACES has delivered MoE Agreements successfully and includes the Attendance Service, and Alternative Education amd now the Managed Move Programme for Auckland City and is governed by Mount Albert Grammar School (the Provider of the Agreements and the Employer).
Primary objectives focussed on schools and kura with ākonga from Years 1-12 who have irregularly or moderately absent from school. A facilitation function supporting universal and targeted attendance responses with tailored support as an exception. Supporting and connecting across the community to lift irregular school attendance.
Working relationships schools and their Senior Management Team and Staff directly responsible for Attendance. Government Agencies (e.g. MoE, Oranga Tamariki, Police and Health). Iwi and Pasifika Services and Groups. Services (NGOs) who support whānau / families.
Ideal Knowledge, Skills and experience recognise commitment to te Ao Māori and promoting tikanga and te reo Māori. Knowledge and experience of the aspirations and needs of Māori. Knowledge and experience of Pasifika cultures and Islands’ values. Can work with different ethnic religious groups.
Experience in working and engaging with government, services community’s groups and able to manage the range of relationships. Knowledge of the impact of attendance and engagement for ākonga, whānau and families. Awareness of the different Schools’ Students’ Administration Management Platforms and is confident in accessing and analysing data, present findings and consider options to support decision making.
Understand of the of the drivers of irregular and moderate absence and can have conversations or, provide presentations to a range of peoples and groups to support engagement and attendance. Able to connect with parent, whānau or caregivers to understand the range of reasons and concerns why ākonga are not attending their schools.
To be able to negotiate and facilitate relationships within Schools to work beside them on attendance practice and processes. Solution-focused, flexible and innovative and sometimes creative to find solutions that can support conversations on attendance and engagement. Able to work independently or, within a team and has excellent report writing and computer skills. Recognises importance of managing personal wellbeing and health.
Has a full driver’s licence. Desired tertiary qualification that may include Education, Māori and/or Pasifika and/or Community Studies. This is a fix term contract (start date to December 2025) aligned to the MoE Contract and person is paid according to the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement for Teacher Aids and Administration Staff.
The Grade / Step will be dependent on the person’s qualification and experience. A Qualification Grant is available aligned to core responsibilities. Applicants will need to have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and an acceptable police vet check.
