In July 2023 LIHE will welcome its first cohort of students to study Bachelor and Masters level courses in Business Information Systems.  We plan also to introduce few other degree offerings in in the near future. LIHE seeks to build a cohesive, equitable, and culturally diverse team, complementing each course with suitably qualified academics who are skilled in contemporary teaching and learning principles relevant to each discipline.

A comprehensive induction and orientation program will be undertaken by all staff at our Sydney campus, training them in all institutional procedures and practices relevant to their roles. LIHE promotes a culture of performance excellence through regular professional development opportunities, cyclic performance development reviews and leadership programs.

Under the leadership of our Dean Professor Mahfuz Ashraf, and the Registrar Dr Prasad Tadipatri, we are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Business Information Systems.

Position purpose the Academic Support Officer (ASO) supports students who have a range of learning needs, providing a variety of approaches to allow each student to reach their full academic potential, and is part of a high performing teaching and learning team focused on providing students with access to the resources they need to engage in outstanding academic success.

The ASO provides support and management of the relevant operations of LIHE , within the broad parameters of LIHE ’s strategic directions, in accord with LIHE mission and Strategic Plan 2021-26.  Promote and foster organisational culture of high quality education embracing cultural diversity instilling humane values and intercultural awareness.

The ASO is appointed on a five-year renewable contract basis and is responsible for the delivery of responsive, proactive and consistent administrative, technical and management support to enable the academic outcomes of LIHE. The ASO provides administrative support to the Senior Academic staff student learning support services to enable the smooth and efficient running of LIHE and to contribute to the management of LIHE ’s academic offerings and various services to students.

The level of appointment is dependent on qualifications and experience. Academic equivalency is assessed on a combination of formal qualifications and professional experience. The minimum requirement is a Bachelors degree or Diploma and 3 to 5 years of relevant professional or practice based experience.

Responsibilities and duties supporting and assisting in the Dean and Course Coordinator roles. Assisting in planning and delivering programs and events to support lifelong learning. Organising meetings, including Agendas and preparation of minutes of meetings. Providing timely student services to support learning. Delivering quality customer service.

Organising student learning support activities including workshops, mentoring and counseling. Supporting the efficient management of cost-effective library and information services, including learning systems, technology and e-library. Ensuring accurate student information is recorded through the use of LIHE’s Student Management System (SMS). Working with LMS support staff to ensure that information in the LMS is current and useful to students.

Ensuing administrative procedures are followed to meet the standard of service and reporting. Following LIHE policies and plans, including privacy, confidentiality, copy rights, security and safety and also in accordance with the required government legislations and laws. Participating and supporting LIHE ’s activities and various committees as needed and any other duties that the Registrar, Dean and the Management might give from time to time.

Essential Selection Criteria Bachelors degree or Diploma within a related discipline. Proven ability in minute taking. Moderate proficiency in computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and keen to share knowledge and skills. At least 3 to 5 years of related experience. Good organisation, communication, time management and problem solving skills and the ability to plan and prioritise, organise and manage tasks.

Committed to providing a welcoming space for diverse ages, groups and cultures. Good interpersonal, team and stakeholder management skills, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills. A high level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritise tasks and work both independently and as part of a team; and desirable Selection Criteria. Experience in the higher education is preferred. Enthusiasm and experience in planning and delivering quality academic success programs.

Reporting relationship the ASO reports to the Senior Lecturer and works closely with Academic teaching staff and Registrar.
