The Legal Business Services Unit is located within the Legal Services Department of Victoria Police. The Legal Services Department has approximately 650 employees (Sworn Police Officers and VPS), who assist in providing quality Prosecutorial and specialist legal advice to support policing and community safety in Victoria.

The Legal Business Services Unit is recruiting for an ongoing VPSG3 Finance Officer, within the Legal Business Finance Unit. The position will suit an individual with a strong desire to work with numerical data and undertake financial reporting and analysis duties.

We are searching for an individual who is highly‑motivated, thrives on delivering exceptional customer service to a variety of internal and external stakeholders and who shows enthusiasm to assist with the delivery of key financial initiatives. The position duties include Initial point of contact for finance queries across the Legal Services Department, including management of the Legal Services Finance Position Based Email Account (PBEA).

Finance and budget‑related tasks including monthly reporting and auditing, variance commentary, invoice processing, monthly phasing and other finance related administration. Assisting all areas of Legal Services with purchasing, invoicing, expenditure and budget transfers, cost overrides and delegation requests while ensuring adherence to organisational policy. Prepare correspondence, financial statements, briefing papers and provide recommendations / options for internal and external stakeholders.

Other finance‑related tasks at the direction of the Financial Analyst and Legal Business Services Leadership Team. As the successful applicant, you will have the ability to understand and work with numerical data. The ability to accurately process a high volume of work within strict timeframes. Exceptional attention to detail. Highly developed interpersonal skills including modelling resilience, professionalism and positive communication. Well-developed customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.

Requirements and relevant information One (1) ongoing, part time (0.65FTE) position available. This position FTE is equivalent to 25 hours per week / 50 hours per fortnight, which can be split across multiple days with flexible work hours. The position will be located at 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.

VPS3 salary range $70,791 - $85,956 p.a plus superannuation. Salary is pro-rata for part time positions. Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa. The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
