It is one of the oldest animal welfare organisation’s in Australia. More than 85 years on, the Home is still saving more than 1200 dogs in need every year. It has become an integral part of the Western Australian community.

The Dogs’ Refuge Home not only takes in dogs from all over Perth, but they work with local governments and other rescue groups to bring in unwanted dogs from around the State to give them a second chance at a happy life.

An opportunity has now arisen for a finance professional to join this dedicated team of board members, staff and volunteers. The position undertakes the full range of financial activities including, accounting, asset control, budgeting, accounts payable/receivable, assisting with third party payroll and taxation compliance. Preparation of timely monthly financial statements with commentary is an important part of the accounting function.

Ideally your background will include experience across a range of organisations and sectors in a variety of finance roles. Some exposure to the Not For Profit/Charitable organisation sectors will be useful however not essential. MYOB expertise is required as one of the urgent projects will be to assess if the organisation is using the programme as effectively as possible or are there more suitable options available.

You will be able to demonstrate your capacity to meet tight deadlines, work unsupervised and on a hands-on basis, and communicate and influence stakeholders proactively and with sensitivity. It is envisaged the role will be structured on a part time basis three days a week with the capacity to increase to four days during peak operational periods. The organisation may be able to accommodate the right candidate who is seeking school friendly hours.
