Youth Worker Caps Hauraki location Waikato.

This role supports children and young people within our community who experience a range of challenges. This role will be supported as a part of the CAPS Hauraki Team, working in collaboration with other youth workers within and outside of CAPS.

On a daily basis the Youth Worker will be providing support that includes mentoring, advocacy, group work, activity based learning opportunities, brief intervention and risk assessment and mitigation strategies.  In this role, you will work alongside other youth services within Hauraki, contributing to joint projects that enhance the well being of tamakiki.

The right applicant will have the ability to relate to young people, be reliable, energetic and passionate about providing guidance, encouragement and practical support to assist young people to enhance their well-being.

The core skills required for this role are experience in supporting, mentoring and providing advocacy for children and young people. The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stake holders. Experience in managing a caseload and/or excellent organisational skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills. Computer competency (email, word, excel). Energy and drive to make a difference in the lives of tamariki. Ability to run workshops and organise small events. Full New Zealand Drivers License (essential). A good sense of humour and commitment to being part of a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position is classed as a Core Worker and will need to pass a safety check, inclusive of Police Vetting, under the Children’s Act 20.
