Wildlife Officer Christchurch International Airport location Canterbury.

As a Wildlife Officer you will undertake a wide range of tasks supporting the safe and efficient operations at Christchurch Airport. These tasks include bird harassment and other wildlife control duties within the operational area of the airport and surrounding areas as applicable.

You will collect data, make and record observations about bird behaviour, food sources, flyways and other relevant related matters and provide this input into other programmes incorporated in the Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.

You will also undertake airfield safety and security duties within the operational area of the airport as a core part of your role, including perimeter security patrols, Foreign Object Debris (FOD) management, vehicle escorting and auditing and engaging with key airfield stakeholders. You will be a responsibe gaurdian of the airport, always demonstrating quality service, safety and security. You will work a 4 day on and 4 day off roster, working 10.5 hour days predominantly during day time hours. You will be a critical part of a team of 5 so you will need to be reliable and consistent.

About you to be successful in the role you will have knowledge of wildlife behaviours and experience in harassment and control (particularly with birds) with consideration for the impact of bird strike. Have demonstrated ability to identify hazards & action appropriately in accordance with Health and Safety legislation.

Enjoy working in a highly regulated environment, with a number of different authorities and regulations being part of that. Have experience translating observation data into action plans through collection and analysis of scientific data.

Must currently (or be able to) hold a NZ firearms licence and a full clean NZ drivers licence. Have proven stakeholder management with experience in educating & ensuring best practise and safe operations. Enjoy working as a part of a small team, so you must be able to work autonomlously and manage your time well.
