School Library Assistant Applications are invited to apply for the position of Library Assistant at Papanui High School. The position is for 20 hours per week in term time only. The objective of this role is to assist in ensuring the library remains (and is seen as) a centre of learning, promoting and delivering a supportive and effective facility for all members of the school community which will foster a love of reading and enhance life-long learning.

Knowledge willingness to undertake library management and systems training. Awareness of Children’s and/or Young Adult literature. Awareness of information literacy, information skills and their links with the library.

Skills planning and organisation. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good online search skills and use of online tools. Time management. Accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to assist library users with reading and information needs.

Personal qualities able to interact positively with students and staff. Love of literature. Willingness to use and train in new technologies and library trends. Ability to work as part of a team and be flexible
