Join Our Team as Safety Advisor – Chemicals and Radiation

Are you passionate about creating a safe workplace? We are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor in Chemicals and Radiation to join the Safety and Wellbeing Team at QIMR Berghofer.

In this role you will:

Provide specialist technical and regulatory advice on chemicals, scheduled substances and radiation safety to guide and strengthen the Institute’s operations and legislative compliance; and
Lead the operational management, monitoring and continual improvement of the Institute’s chemical and radiation safety arrangements.
About you:

We’re looking for someone who has:

A relevant tertiary qualification in science, occupational hygiene, radiation safety, workplace health and safety or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and practical experience in a laboratory or clinical environment.
Demonstrated ability to interpret complex legislative and technical requirements and translate them into practical guidance for research and professional staff and students.
Demonstrated experience in the effective management of chemicals and scheduled substances, including their use, labelling, storage and disposal.
Proven practical experience in the management of radiation sources within a laboratory or clinical setting.
Experience coordinating and conducting chemical and radiation safety inspections and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.

What we can offer: This is a full-time, permanent position at AO5 classification. The corresponding salary range is $106,376 to $115,730 p.a. plus superannuation and generous salary packaging.
