Project Restore is seeking a professionally confident transcriber to join our growing national team.  This role will suit a someone who is operating as Court or Legal typist or is studying / working in a field related to counselling, social work, psychotherapy or psychology and who ideally has access to supervision as part of their work or training.

About us project Restore NZ (PRNZ) is the specialist national provider of restorative justice for sexual harm cases in Aotearoa. We have a contract with the Ministry of Justice to deliver restorative justice processes within the criminal justice system and the community as an alternative justice process.

This provides great potential for Survivor healing and recovery and the person who caused the harm to be accountable. We are implementing a long-term strategy which will grow our reach and impact, making this an exciting opportunity to have a very real, expanding and beneficial impact for Survivors.

About the role in this role you will support the Operations Manager to ensure the restorative justice conferences are transcribed to a high level to detail and accuracy. These reports are used in numerous ways, including by the courts, by clients and by counsellors and psychologists and are an important part of the RJ process. Conference reports need to be accurate and completed on time.

This will be achieved by assisting the Operations Manager with transcribing Restorative Justice conferences in a timely manner and within all deadlines set. Utilising Project Restores AI transcribing system – being able to learn and use I.T systems efficiently is an important requirement of this role.

Transcribing roughly 3 conferences a month within set timeframes (this will fluctuate depending on organisational need). Following Project Restores policies and guidelines in relation to HR, privacy and protection and confidentiality. Restorative Justice Transcriber – flexible hours.

About you as a minimum you will have a minimum of 2+ years of demonstrated administrative experience – ideally operating as Court or Legal typist OR, be studying or working in a field related to counselling, social work, psychotherapy or psychology. Be able to learn and use I.T systems quickly, efficiently and utlise technology to improve speed and accuracy of transcribing.

Exceptional typing skills and a very high level of attention to detail for transcribing conferences in an accurate manner. Ability to work flexibly and within timeframes (usually of a week) to have conferences transcribed within deadlines. Have outstanding written communications skills.

Have superb proofreading abilities and strong organisational skills. Maturity and ability to listen to, and transcribe, content of a sensitive nature, including information and conversations about sexual harm / violence involving survivors and people who have caused harm. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook). Be set up in a secure and private home office/working space.

This position is a contractor position. There are no set hours as this will depend on how many conferences happen each month, but we expect at least 3 conferences to be transcribed a month. Each conference takes around 3-4 hours to transcribe depending on length and complexity of the case.

This role is ideal for anyone looking at some flexible hours to make some additional monthly income or to sit with an existing part time role. There will be scope to work with the Operations Manager to ensure workload is suitable.
