Help us deliver a better tomorrow
Australia Post is delivering like never before. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.
About the opportunity
Reporting to the Network Partners Manager, the Category Lead will take the lead in establishing a fit-for-purpose category management framework for our Last Mile Contracts — setting the foundation for strong collaboration between contract management and key operational stakeholders. As Category Lead, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end management of a ~$100 million portfolio, covering approximately 70 parcel contracts. You’ll bring a strategic mindset to sourcing, supplier relationships, and contract negotiations — always with an eye on cost optimisation, service quality, and delivery efficiency. This is a hands-on and highly collaborative role. You’ll work cross-functionally to develop and implement category strategies that align with our broader parcel network objectives, while also identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
What you’ll deliver with us
Develop and implement category strategies that support the parcels network and enable long-term value.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to align on operational and commercial goals.
Lead strategic sourcing activities — from market analysis to supplier selection and contract negotiation.
Monitor supplier performance, address underperformance, and drive continuous improvement.
Optimise contract spend, manage Pay Variation Advice (PVA), and embed cost-effective changes into agreements.
Use financial insights to inform procurement decisions and deliver measurable cost savings.
Align procurement activities with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting requirements.
Stay across market trends to inform strategy and support future network needs.
Ensure compliance with policies, legal obligations, and ethical standards, with a focus on risk management.
About you
Proven experience in procurement and category management, with strong supplier and contract oversight.
Confidence working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and able to deliver to deadlines while managing competing priorities.
Skilled in stakeholder engagement, with trusted relationships across Finance, Legal, Operations, and external partners.
Highly proficient in SAP, MS Office, SharePoint, with strong coordination and reporting skills.
Commercially minded, with the financial acumen to assess value, manage budgets, and support cost control.
Experienced in contract costing, supplier margin analysis, and total cost optimisation.
