OVERVIEW

Are you passionate and have a deep commitment to the supervision and teaching of the next generation of psychologists? We are looking to appoint you to supervise and train our Professional and Clinical Psychology students.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a passionate psychology educator with great skills in student clinical supervision and the ability also to teach in classroom settings to continue ECU’s great reputation for producing outstanding psychology graduates. You will have primary responsibility for the day-to-date supervision of students, working with colleagues also engaged in supervision on a casual basis. We value your own commitment to maintaining a psychological practice with a fractional appointment available via negotiation to ensure the best fit between your needs and ours; the level of appointment (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer) will be determined based on the experience and skills of the successful candidate. Depending on the applications received there may be more than one part-time appointment available.

You will mainly be providing supervision to postgraduate psychology students undertaking placements at our Psychological Services Centre (PSC) located in Wanneroo and our developing service In Yanchep, while also contributing to the teaching of these students in preparatory classes at our Joondalup Campus. You will work with Director, PSC and have close working relationships to the course coordinators of our various psychology postgraduate degrees and the School’s Work-Integrated Learning team who support placement operations. SELECTION CRITERIA

To be considered for this position, you will need to meet current registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia with an Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology with no conditions, undertakings, or reprimands; have current Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor Status, with approval to supervise provisional psychologists during an accredited higher degree program; and recent experience in supervising provisionally registered psychologists.

You will need to demonstrate, based on past achievement and potential for future development, that you can:

supervise effectively for the clinical and professional training of psychologists;
teach with a student-centred approach that facilitates successful learning;
engage with industry and community to achieve excellence in clinical education;
develop and implement innovations that improve clinical psychology education;
exercise scholarly leadership consistent with your level of appointment; and
work productively and collegially to achieve the goals of the school and university.

It is desirable, but not essential, that you also have either a Doctor of Philosophy or a Doctor of Psychology qualification.

You will be expected to demonstrate personal attributes congruent with the University’s values of integrity, respect, rational inquiry, personal excellence, and courage.

We will consider a Full time or Part time appointment for this ongoing position which attracts a remuneration of $113,918 to $134,596 pa (Lecturer) or $138,726 to $159,403 pa (Senior Lecturer) (pro-rata for part time) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
