Position description
Reporting to the Traffic & Compliance Manager, you will assist with the shipment of retail products, logistic functions, systems data entry and maintenance. Your responsibilities will include:
Manage compiling and processing of all import documentation, including customs and quarantine paperwork.
Responsible for the data entry of all relevant paperwork associated with import and export ocean, air and courier shipments into Costco’s Merchandise system, AS400.
Liaising with freight forwarders, couriers, transport companies, shipping lines and third party warehousing suppliers
Provides visibility to the wider team of incoming imported shipments by sea, air or by courier and also of specific consignments.
Verification and routine audit of freight rates against negotiated charge structure.
Reporting of deviations in Supply Chain and charges incurred
Facilitating the processing of duty and freight rate requests
Preparation of shipping documents for export, including duty refunds
Provide technical support for queries from internal customers (e.g. Buying team, Accounts, Finance)
Assist in the preparation of freight, warehousing, transport quotes
General trouble shooting and issue resolution for both internal and external stakeholders
General administration (e.g. filing of documentation)
The successful applicant:
Ideally possess an advanced level of experience in shipping and/or international Supply Chain and Logistics and has a minimum of 2 years experience in these or associated disciplines
Is confident and motivated to achieve results in the most efficient way possible
Has a bright and positive attitude would be also considered
Has excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Possesses strong math and excel /word skills
Is a team player willing to work and support a wider team
Is capable of working unsupervised in a fast paced environment.
Must be detail oriented, well organized and able to multitask with strong problem solving experience.
Has the ability to proactively identify opportunities and issues and take decisive action; initiate activities and accept responsibilities beyond the specific job description
Demonstrates flexibility in thinking, and adapt to and manage the increasing rate of change: be prepared for the unexpected and be responsive to emerging issues, you definitely work well under pressure.
