Job Description
Your opportunity to join our team
We are looking for a hands-on, reliable, and motivated Hatchery Assistant to join our dedicated team. Based at our Hatchery in McKees Hill, you will be involved in the day-to-day operations that support the successful incubation and hatching of chicks.

This role also offers a unique opportunity for someone with a mechanical or maintenance interest to be trained in basic maintenance tasks and work alongside our current Maintenance Officer to support the smooth running of our equipment and systems.

Daily Tasks
• General hatchery duties including egg setting, chick handling, and cleaning
• Monitoring hatch timings and ensuring optimal animal welfare practices
• Operating machinery and assisting with equipment setup and changeovers
• Assisting the Maintenance Officer with minor repairs and preventative maintenance (if applicable)
• Working in a temperature-controlled environment
• Full-time hours with early starts (generally from 6am), Tuesday to Saturday, with occasional weekend work as required
• PPE and training provided

You will bring to this role
• A strong work ethic and reliability – this is a hands-on role
• Ability to work early morning shifts and commit to a set roster
• A willingness to learn and follow strict biosecurity and animal welfare protocols
• Basic mechanical aptitude or a willingness to be trained in maintenance tasks
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Previous experience in poultry, farming, or hatchery environments is a bonus, but not essential
