Global Creatures (GC) is an Australian enterprise, headquartered in Sydney, with offices in New York and London. We develop, produce and licence ground-breaking live theatrical productions internationally. Our most recent production, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, is the winner of 10 Tony Awards and the first Australian produced musical to originate on Broadway, with six productions playing worldwide in 2024 and more to follow.

GC productions over the last 15 years include King Kong; Muriel’s Wedding The Musical; Strictly Ballroom The Musical; How To Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular; and Walking With Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular.

The team the Finance team is essential to the activities and success of GC. Core financial functions integral to GC’s operations and the management of its business, include to be the financial lynchpin in GC’s commercial activities.

To proactively drive and gather inputs from each relevant department and to manage the flow of financial information between departments, to external stakeholders and to the Executive and Board. To provide exceptional accounting, reporting, budgeting, processing, compliance and tax services to GC.

The role reporting to the Chief Financial Officer the Financial Controller will ensure all accounting transactions are properly actioned and recorded. Ensure compliance requirements and deadlines are met. Update and distribute financial information to management, the board and relevant stakeholders in an accurate and timely fashion. Play a key role in process and system improvements; and Manage the Assistant Accountant and external accounting providers.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities governance - including the preparation of financial reports for Board review. Financial Planning and Analysis – budgets, forecasts and tax planning. Risk management – including managing and coordinating insurances. Corporate reporting - reporting, policy and process development and oversight of financial systems.

Compliance - taxation and preparation of financial statements for external review/audit. Corporate Accounting - all functions including cash flow management and payroll. Overseeing and ensuring compliance with financial requirements of government grants/programs and industry forums internationally.

Key Selection criteria relevant Australian CA/CPA qualifications. 5+ years' accounting experience, preferably in a global organisation. Excellent commercial finance expertise with a proven track record of success in a busy, project-based organisation.

Demonstrated willingness to work collaboratively and to inspire others. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. High attention to detail and proven record of successful adoption of processes and procedures. Entertainment industry experience (desirable) and international experience (desirable).
