As an experienced Financial Controller, ideally working in professional services, this role will see you join a successful mid-tier Accounting firm celebrating 30 years in business in 2019. This is a rare and unique opportunity to work alongside experts across a full-service accounting practice and play a role in the continued success and growth across Australia. You will be a pivotal senior member of the Practice Support team working alongside the People and Culture Manager and Marketing Manager on operational and overall firm strategy, reporting directly to the Managing Partner. You will be capable and confident in partnering with the greater Director group and thrive in a fast pace and innovative environment. This role is generalist in nature and you have the ability to make it your own and make your mark. You will be responsible for financial controls, analysis, reporting, budgeting, legal compliance, property management and leadership of a small finance team. Specific duties include, but are not limited to financial control and reporting, prepares all schedules for financial reporting in accord with statutory requirements and the needs of the business as required, evaluates the financial performance of the various entities ensuring cost-effective use of financial resources to meet operating objectives and plans, develops, prepares and analyses financial and accounting reports for the director group, liaise with directors and divisional leaders to formulate and interpret reports to assist in the execution of their roles, oversees payroll operations, liaises with financial institutions and auditors for various entities,  management planning/budgeting, implements the financial aspects of the strategic plan ensuring operational budgets are implemented in line with the firms vision and goals, prepare and constant review of annual and six-monthly budgets, completion of monthly general ledger reconciliations, manage the monthly time recording and billing process to ensure that levels of time recorded and billed are optimized, monitor and report on levels of wip and billings and advise directors and divisional management of variances from plan and likely forwarded outcomes. Administration provide training and on-going support for staff using aps to ensure sufficient level of knowledge and efficiencies across the firm, work in conjunction with it and professional staff to ensure accounting software operates effectively and meets practice needs, liaise with property management as the main contact on lease negotiations and operational matters, co-ordinates appropriate insurance policy protection for assets, employees and directors, including professional indemnity cover, oversee purchasing of all stationery and consumables to ensure appropriate stock levels, establish, implement and document efficient administration policies and procedures, supervise, develop and support employees in the finance team. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes  at least 5 years’ experience as a financial controller within professional services, current or previous experience working in a public practice accounting firm would be highly regarded, cpa or ca qualified, thorough knowledge of aps and paysonline payroll system would be highly regarded, general knowledge of public financial standards and corporations law, exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as analytical skills, effective time management and deadline driven, a proactive thinker with the ability to look beyond the numbers, excellent leadership skills with proven experience managing and coaching a team, in return, you will be part of a growing firm with a leadership team who supports and cares for their employees, placing importance on achieving a genuine work/life balance and fun, an attractive remuneration package consisting of salary and superannuation will be negotiated commensurate with your qualifications and experience.
