Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager – National to lead the financial performance, governance, and strategic financial management of ACCIONA Agua's portfolio across Australia.
This is a highly visible leadership role that partners with executive, operational, and project teams nationwide to drive commercial performance, support business growth, and provide financial leadership across major water infrastructure projects, operations, and tender opportunities.
The Opportunity
As a Finance Manager you will be responsible for leading all aspects of financial management across ACCIONA Agua's Australian business. You will act as a strategic business partner to project and operational leaders, providing financial insight, governance, reporting, forecasting, commercial support, and risk management.
You will play a critical role in ensuring strong financial performance while supporting the continued growth of ACCIONA Agua through involvement in significant bids, tenders, and project delivery activities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance management across a national portfolio.
Provide strategic financial advice to senior leadership to support business growth and operational excellence.
Assess financial implications of business strategies, investment decisions, and project opportunities.
Drive financial discipline and accountability throughout the organisation.
Commercial and Project Finance
Partner with Project Directors and Operations teams to monitor project performance and profitability.
Lead project financial reviews, cost control initiatives, and margin improvement strategies.
Deliver commercial insights and recommendations that improve project outcomes.
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and project financing requirements.
Tendering and Business Development Support
Lead financial input into bids, tenders, and business development opportunities.
Develop financial models, pricing strategies, and commercial evaluations.
Assess financial and commercial risks associated with proposed projects and contracts.
Support successful project acquisition through sound financial analysis and decision-making.
Governance, Compliance and Reporting
Ensure financial reporting complies with Australian Accounting Standards and ACCIONA's global requirements.
Maintain robust financial controls, governance frameworks, and risk management processes.
Coordinate audit activities and support internal and external assurance requirements.
Develop and implement finance policies, procedures, and best practices.
Leadership
Lead and mentor finance professionals across multiple locations nationally.
Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable finance culture.
Promote continuous improvement and consistency in financial processes and reporting.
Required Skills and Competencies
About You
You are a commercially minded finance leader who thrives in a project-based environment and enjoys partnering with operational teams to deliver results.
You will bring:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline.
CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
Significant finance leadership experience within infrastructure, construction, engineering, utilities, or related sectors.
Experience supporting major projects, operations, and tender processes.
Strong understanding of project accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Advanced financial modelling and analytical capability.
Proven experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving business outcomes.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing finance teams across multiple locations.
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
