About us te Whakakitenga o Waikato Inc manages the collective assets of the iwi, Waikato-Tainui. Our aim is to grow a prosperous, healthy, vibrant, innovative and culturally strong iwi to enable mana motuhake. This is achieved through a range of initiatives directed to improving tribal outcomes.

Mokopuna Ora is one initiative aimed at improving outcomes for mokopuna and whaanau involved in the statutory care and protection system. Mokopuna Ora is a kaupapa Maaori strengths-based and whaanau-led model of care.

Supporting whaanau and mokopuna to navigate the complex care and protection system within Aotearoa - New Zealand and reducing the number of iwi Maaori mokopuna entering the care system. By empowering whaanau to take the necessary steps needed, they can then provide a safe and loving home for their mokopuna.

About the role we are searching for an experienced executive administrator to provide high quality support to Mokopuna Ora senior management in the form of managing information flow, preparing reports and presentations, coordinating the frontline team, organising meetings, arranging travel and other duties as directed.

This role enables the Operations Manager and Programme Director to maximise their time by maintaining schedules; effectively engaging with all guests and key stakeholders and completing assigned projects on time, to the highest quality.

You will also provide responsive customer service to the Mokopuna Ora team which includes co-ordinating team activities, taking minutes, enabling resource purchases and providing additional administrative support in alignment with the tribe’s wider administration and business teams.

As the team and workplace grows there will also be additional requirements to greet and manaaki visitors, manage meeting rooms and be responsible for maintaining health and safety systems in the office.  The professional we seek must be able to evidence a high level of confidentiality and working knowledge of the Privacy Act 2020.

What you’ll bring - To be successful in this role you will need to have a proven track record of experience and achievement in providing personal and administrative support to managers and teams. Significant experience and high proficiency in MS Office applications, with the ability to pick up new systems including customer management databases.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent planning skills. The ability to build productive working relationships, both internal and external. Experience prioritising and managing workflows being adaptive and agile in responding to competing priorities. Knowledge of and practice in managing health and safety in the workplace systems and processes. A current full NZ Driver’s Licence.

This is an independent contractor role, 36-month fixed-term, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position with the potential for extended longer term.  Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Aotearoa - New Zealand and undertake police vetting and Oranga Tamariki Care and Protection, Youth Justice Residence Adoptions Services and Support (CYRAS) system checks.
