What to Expect
Based in Adelaide, South Australia, the Contract Specialist will support Tesla Energy’s deployment phase by managing contractual obligations for equipment supply, commissioning, and EPC contracts across multiple utility-scale BESS projects in SA and WA and wider APAC region. This role balances day-to-day contract administration, claims development, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, pursue opportunities, and align project delivery with contractual and commercial objectives.
What You’ll Do
Oversee contractual compliance for equipment supply, commissioning, and EPC contracts (FIDIC, AS, NEC) from award to completion.
Manage milestones, payments, performance guarantees, and warranty obligations across projects.
Administer subcontractor agreements, including logistics, testing, and commissioning timelines.
Identify and develop claims for EOT, variations, and delay compensation due to equipment delays, commissioning issues, or EPC performance gaps.
Analyse delays using MS Project/P6 and quantify financial impacts (e.g., productivity loss, liquidated damages) in Excel.
Document claims with evidence (correspondence, site records) and support negotiations with EPC contractors, suppliers, or clients.
Manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritising by contractual deadlines, risk exposure, and opportunity value.
Maintain real-time risk registers and dashboards in Procore/Aconex and SharePoint, linking risks to action items and claims.
Partner with project managers, engineers, and legal teams to resolve disputes, align deliverables, and escalate risks to leadership.
Prepare concise fortnightly reports on key risks, claim status, and mitigation actions.a
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, law, business, quantity surveying, construction management or equivalent experience in commercial or contracts roles.
3+ years of contract administration experience in renewable energy (solar, wind, battery energy storage systems), infrastructure (rail, road, civil), or industrial equipment supply.
Proven experience with equipment supply contracts, commissioning agreements, and EPC contracts in utility-scale projects.
Proficiency in MS Project/Primavera P6 for schedule analysis and delay impact modelling (preferred).
Expertise in Procore, Aconex, InEight TeamBinder, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or SharePoint for document management, claims dossiers, and contract tracking.
Strong grasp of contractual frameworks (FIDIC, AS, NEC) and claims quantification methods (delay analysis, cost recovery).
Proven ability to manage multiple geographically dispersed projects, prioritise competing demands, and drive proactive risk mitigation.
