Description

What to Expect
Tesla's Construction & Infrastructure team delivers the built environments that power our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. Spanning across Tesla Motors (Logistics, Energy warehousing, service centres, collision centres, retail locations), this team plays a critical role in scaling Tesla's Australia & New Zealand footprint.
We are looking for a Construction Specialist/Coordinator to join the Construction & Infrastructure team on the client side, acting as Tesla's representative across a diverse portfolio of construction projects. You will coordinate internal stakeholders, external contractors, design consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure Tesla's construction projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the standards our brand demands.

This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and is passionate about building the infrastructure behind sustainable energy and transportation.

What You’ll Do
Project Coordination & Delivery
Coordinate construction activities across Motors and energy (manufacturing facilities, retail/service sites)
Act as Tesla's client-side representative on active job sites, ensuring contractor performance aligns with Tesla's scope, schedule, quality, and safety expectations
Drive project timelines by coordinating across design, procurement, permitting, construction, and commissioning phases
Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, punch lists, and close-out documentation
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
Serve as a key liaison between Tesla's internal teams (Real Estate, Facilities, Engineering, Operations, EHS) and external general contractors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers
Support contractor bid processes, scope reviews, and contract administration
Monitor contractor performance against KPIs and escalate issues proactively
Coordinate with local utilities, AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction), and permitting agencies
Budget & Schedule Oversight
Track project budgets, review contractor invoices, and flag cost variances against approved budgets
Maintain and update project schedules; identify critical path risks and drive mitigation strategies
Prepare regular project status reports and dashboards for leadership
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Conduct regular site walks and inspections to verify work quality, code compliance, and adherence to Tesla design standards
Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal building codes, environmental regulations, and Tesla's EHS requirements
Support OSHA compliance and promote a zero-incident safety culture across all job sites
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to standardize construction delivery processes across the Motors and Energy portfolios
Contribute to the development of playbooks, templates, and best practices that enable rapid, repeatable project delivery at scale
Leverage lessons learned across projects to continuously improve execution
Proficient in the new learnings of AI technology
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience
4–7 years of experience in construction coordination, project management, or owner's representation roles
Demonstrated experience managing client-side/owner-side relationships with general contractors and design teams
Strong understanding of commercial, industrial, or infrastructure construction methods and building codes
Proficiency with construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, MS Project)
Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings
Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (up to 30%)
Competencies

Ownership Mentality — You treat every project as if your name is on the building
Bias for Action — You move fast, remove blockers, and don't wait to be told what to do
Cross-Functional Agility — You navigate seamlessly between engineering, operations, design, and construction teams
Detail-Oriented Execution — You manage complexity without dropping the ball
Resilience — You stay composed and solution-focused when timelines shift and challenges arise
Work Environment
Work between Tesla offices and active construction/installation sites
Exposure to active construction environments requiring appropriate PPE
May involve flexible or extended hours to align with project milestones and contractor schedules
Travel across Tesla Motors and Energy project sites regionally or nationally
