About the Role
Babcock is looking for an experienced and dynamic Commercial Officer to support our Capability Life Cycle Manager (CLCM) contract, delivering fleet asset management services to the Royal Australian Navy at Garden Island, NSW. This is a pivotal role in a significant maritime program—an opportunity to shape operational, strategic and commercial outcomes that keep Australia’s defence capabilities mission-ready.
You’ll work closely with our Program Commercial Manager, Marine Business Unit and broader commercial function to optimise commercial outcomes, navigate contractual obligations, manage risks, and build strong relationships with our partners and suppliers. The role covers everything from contract management and governance to change initiatives, compliance, and stakeholder engagement—ensuring we meet high standards while fostering collaboration and commercial excellence.

To be successful, you will bring:
Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain).
Degree/Bachelor/Masters in Business, Commence, Law or similar.
Relevant experience in contracts, subcontracts, procurement, supply chain, finance or program/project management, preferably in a Defence context and/ or large corporate environment.
A passion for written communications, creativity with attention to detail and accuracy and a desire to deliver complex high-quality business outcomes
Sound understanding of legal principles.
Experience of engaging with national and international customers and suppliers.
