About the Role We’re looking for a thoughtful, skilled, and hands-on coffee professional to join our small roasting team. This is a hybrid role — part roaster, part production assistant, part barista — working across both the roastery and our adjoining coffee bar. You’ll play a key role in producing the coffees we roast, pack, and share each week, while also helping serve them to our guests. It’s a role for someone who takes pride in consistency, attention to detail, and craft. It’s a great opportunity for a junior roaster or roastery assistant ready to take on more responsibility, or for an experienced barista-roaster seeking a stable, long-term position. Pathways into green coffee buying, head roasting, and team leadership exist for diligent, patient, and committed contributors.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Roasting

Prepare green coffee for roasting using pre-set blend recipes
Schedule daily production batches in Cropster
Roast coffee according to established profiles, maintaining consistency across batches
Follow warm-up and between-batch protocols
Record roast data and colour readings in Cropster
Sample roast and assist in blend development and R&D
Participate in regular cuppings and calibration sessions
Maintain cleanliness and safety across all production areas
Carry out daily and weekly roaster maintenance tasks

Fulfilment & Operations

Weigh, label, and pack roasted coffee accurately to production schedule
Pick and pack wholesale and webshop orders
Book courier collections and maintain dispatch records
Conduct periodic stocktakes of green and roasted coffee
Safely handle and store goods

Coffee Bar & Customer Service

Dial in espresso to prescribed recipes using La Marzocco and Mahlkönig equipment
Prepare espresso and filter drinks to consistent quality standards
Engage customers with warmth and professionalism, sharing insights about our coffees and approach
Maintain clean, orderly bar and service areas
Support retail coffee and equipment sales

Collaboration & Events

Work closely with roastery and coffee shop teams to ensure smooth communication across departments
Participate in cuppings, tastings, and events at the roastery

About You

You’re detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and care deeply about doing things the right way. You enjoy hands-on work, take pride in consistency, and value learning as part of your craft. You’re self-motivated but collaborative. This isn’t a role for someone looking to “try out” roasting. You’ll need to bring genuine roasting experience and a clear sense of the importance of consistency, repeatability, and thoroughness.

Experience & Skills You’ll bring:

Minimum 2 years’ experience roasting coffee in a high end environment
Minimum 2 years’ barista experience in specialty coffee
Familiarity with Cropster, Google Suite, and digital production tools
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to lift up to 24kg repeatedly
A full driver’s licence

Ideally, you also have:

Experience with Probat and ROEST roasting equipment
Experience with Sovda packing equipment
Experience contributing to blend development or QC
Understanding of specialty coffee processing.
