The Chief Information Officer (CIO) develops organisationally aligned IT strategies to enable the business to achieve strategic and operational goals and leads the organisation’s IT capability to maximise returns from IT investments to improve operational effectiveness.

About you ideally, you will embody these attributes you are a trusted expert advisor. Leads and directs the strategic Information Technology approach for Treasury. You are able to credibly represent Treasury at a sector level, providing informed advice and input to sector-wide decisions. You are able to confidently support the Treasury team, providing advice on considerations, risks, and decision-making from a technology perspective.

You have strong commercial acumen. Oversees the provision of a range of technology support for the Treasury, its executives, and staff. You are able to understand the commercial aspects and trade-offs of various decisions and provide options to balance value for money considerations. You are a strategic thinker. Identifies, develops, and implements a technology roadmap to meet current and future needs. Provides technical expertise and proactive advice to ensure we have the systems to deliver while meeting our legislative, process, and risk requirements.

You can deliver. Directs and manages the delivery of IT services to assist the range of staffing and business requirements. Is adept at delivering a range of projects and business as usual support displaying agility and pragmatism. You are an experienced leader. Makes a difference by leading and directing resources to identify and deliver key strategic initiatives while balancing day-to-day needs. Provides leadership and guidance on the ongoing professional development and engagement of staff. Contributes as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team by role modelling the public service values.

You are a collaborator. Partners with Treasury colleagues and Agencies on technology initiatives. Actively participates and influences in the sector-wide CIO forums. Fosters and facilitates the optimal engagement and involvement to ensure the successful deployment of new initiatives.

About the team the Treasury Information Technology (IT) team is responsible for core Treasury business systems, and sector systems such as the Prime Budgeting system and the Salesforce Outcomes Business Performance and Planning platform. The team also helps to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information and systems and ensure that our documents and records are stored, approved, and retained appropriately.

Treasury provides advice to inform budget decision-making; manages the State’s principal financial assets and liabilities; monitors the performance of its commercial agencies; advises on performance and financial management policies; and supports the development of policy advice and implementation of programs focused on energy, climate-change mitigation and adaptation, and the transformation to a new low-cost, clean-energy economy.
