About the role

As a Family Preservation Case Worker, you’ll be walking alongside families for up to 12 months, working directly in their homes at least once a week. You’ll assess risk, build trust, and co-develop meaningful case plans to help families stay together safely. Many of the families you’ll support are navigating challenges like child protection involvement, domestic and family violence, mental health, and neglect.

Using the Wraparound service model, you’ll coordinate support in partnership with other services and connect families with parenting programs and practical tools to strengthen relationships and resilience.

About you in the role

Conducting regular in-home visits and delivering intensive, therapeutic case management
Completing thorough safety and risk assessments, and writing clear, professional reports
Creating case plans that consider parenting capacity, child development and family context
Collaborating with colleagues and external agencies through joint home visits, community events and group supervision

About You

You’re someone who is confident walking into complex situations and has the emotional intelligence to connect with the whole family – children, parents, carers – and help them feel seen and supported. You have a solid understanding of child protection frameworks and know how to identify and respond to risk.

A relevant tertiary qualification (or working towards one) in Social Work, Psychology or a related field
Experience supporting families with complex needs, ideally in home-based or outreach roles
Strong written skills and the ability to analyse and report on risk, safety and progress
Great time management and decision-making under pressure
