Academic Leader Horizon Education location Manawatu. $75,000 – $90,000 per year.

We are seeking a suitably qualified and passionate educator, with leadership experience, for this newly created role. Horizon Education has been delivering programmes for our rangatahi for over 27 years and is rated by NZQA as a Category One Training Provider.  Our current TEC-funded, Youth Guarantee programme for 16 - 24 year olds leads to the New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills L1 and NCEA L2.

You will lead our small, dedicated teaching team in the delivery of our NZQA-approved, 1 year programme thus ensuring Horizon Education meets it's contracted outcomes and numerous stakeholder expectations. Experience and skills in teaching and learning processes is essential as is the ability to guide and support a team.  Knowledge of the processes involved in delivering an NZQA unit standard-based programme would be an advantage.

You will take lead responsibility for the pastoral care of our students, assisting them with their barriers to learning and attending to any interpersonal issues. Ultimately we want students to be engaged, participate in enjoyable learning experiences and to leave with a sense of empowerment having gained their qualifications.

In consultation with the Managing Director, the day-to-day and overall operational activities including, for example, timetabling, long-term plans, human resources and staff meetings and some compliance requirements will be your responsibility.
