Assistant Accountant or Bookkeeper New Start Recruiters location Melbourne. $60,000 – $75,000 per year.
This full-time role is responsible for helping manage the financial goals for a Family Run property development business. To be considered for this role, you MUST be experienced in Bookkeeping or an assistant accountant for a minimum of 5 years. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller and has responsibility for all the bookkeeping, accounting and administrative activities.

You will have most likely come from a background where you had a considerable amount of responsibility within the property development or construction space. About the role experience in property development, construction and trust accounting will be preferred but not necessary.
Responsibilities include but not limited to all aspects of Accounts and data entry. Accounts Receivable related work including Invoicing. Client Receipts. Accounts Payable related work including payments processing. Weekly cashflow budgeting / forecast. Monthly financial reporting including Income Statement and Balance Sheet.
Complete/deliver tasks in accordance with month end timetables. Bank and loan reconciliations for all departments. BAS reconciliation and returns. Year-end Payroll Reporting. Payroll Tax Reporting. Monthly Superannuation returns. Long Service Leave Reporting. Work-Cover reconciliations. Office administrative matters. Any other ad-hoc matters.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and experience bookkeeping or Accounting qualifications with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Strong proficient knowledge and hands-on experience with accounting software MYOB (Advanced). Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word with knowledge in PowerPoint.
Industry knowledge of Payroll systems and payroll compliance in Australia. Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to interact professionally with staff and external parties. Be detail-oriented, ability to multitask, good time management and planning skills and prioritise tasks.
