About the Role
We are seeking a caring, organised and community-focused Maternal Support Worker to join our New Directions team within the Clinic.

Working under the direction of the Clinic Coordinator, the Maternal Support Worker will provide client support and administrative assistance to the New Directions team.

The role will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate services and activities that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, mothers, babies and families.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the New Directions team, Bega Garnbirringu staff, clients and key stakeholders to provide a welcoming, culturally safe and supportive service.

Key Responsibilities
Provide culturally appropriate support to clients accessing the New Directions program.
Assist clients to navigate and access relevant health, maternal and family support services.
Provide practical assistance and information to clients as required.
Support the New Directions team with the coordination and delivery of client services and activities.
Provide general administrative support to the Clinic Coordinator and New Directions team.
Assist with client appointments, referrals, follow-up and program activities.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records and administrative documentation.
Assist with preparing correspondence, forms, reports and other documentation as required.
Liaise professionally with clients, staff, health professionals and external stakeholders.
Support culturally safe and respectful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families.
Assist with program activities, community engagement and health promotion initiatives.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with organisational policies and procedures.
Assist with general office duties and other tasks as directed by the Clinic Coordinator.
Contribute positively to a supportive and collaborative team environment.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must have:

High-level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to relate effectively to staff, clients and key stakeholders.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of cultural factors and social determinants, particularly those relating to Aboriginal health.
Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail.
Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively determine priorities and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team in an environment with competing priorities.
Demonstrated ability to communicate respectfully and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families.
Demonstrated organisational skills and commitment to providing high-quality, culturally appropriate client support.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Applicants must also have:

Current WA C Class Driver's Licence.
Current Working with Children Check (WA).
National Criminal History Check / Police Clearance valid within the last three months.
Desirable Criteria
Qualification or experience in Community Services, Health, Maternal Health, Child and Family Services or a related field.
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, children and families.
Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation or primary health care environment.
Knowledge of maternal and child health services and local referral pathways.
Experience providing client support, advocacy or referral services.
Experience providing administrative support within a health or community services environment.
Experience using client management or electronic health record systems.
