Bega Garnbirringu is a leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation providing culturally safe, holistic and accessible health and wellbeing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout the Goldfields region.

About the Role
We are seeking a caring, reliable and community-focused Community Care Worker to join our team on a casual basis.
The Community Care Worker will support the delivery of a safe and supportive environment for people found intoxicated in public. The role provides an alternative to police custody by allowing individuals to sober up safely in a supervised, respectful and culturally appropriate environment.

The successful applicant will work as part of a small and supportive team, monitoring client wellbeing and safety while providing respectful care and assistance throughout their stay.

This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about supporting Aboriginal people and contributing to improved social and emotional wellbeing outcomes within the community.

The position requires flexibility to work rostered shifts, including night shifts and other hours as required.

Key Responsibilities
Provide clients with a safe, respectful and culturally appropriate environment.
Support clients who have been found intoxicated in public to sober up safely.
Monitor client wellbeing, behaviour and safety throughout their stay.
Respond appropriately to changes in a client's condition and escalate concerns when required.
Communicate respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people from diverse communities.
Maintain client dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Work collaboratively as part of a small, supportive team.
Complete basic client records, incident reports and other documentation as required.
Assist with cleaning, laundry and general duties within the facility.
Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for clients and staff.
Follow organisational policies, procedures and relevant safety requirements.
Assist with handovers and communicate relevant information to other team members.
Support Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing through culturally appropriate and respectful interactions.
Work rostered shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays where required.
Undertake other duties relevant to the position as directed by management.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must have:

Aboriginality, in accordance with Section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with Aboriginal people from diverse communities.
Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people and communities, including social and emotional wellbeing.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and remain calm and professional when working under pressure.
Basic computer skills and the ability to complete basic records and reports accurately.
Demonstrated commitment to Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing, cultural safety, client dignity and confidentiality.
Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including rostered evening and night shifts.
Applicants must also have:

Current National Police Clearance or ability to obtain.
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience working in a community services, health, social support or Aboriginal health environment.
Experience working with people affected by alcohol and other drug use.
Experience working with people experiencing homelessness or social disadvantage.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Understanding of culturally safe practice and trauma-informed approaches.
Experience in a residential, sobering-up, crisis support or similar environment.
Knowledge of local Aboriginal communities and support services.
Previous experience working rostered shifts, including nights
