Landscape Architect or Landscape Designer Carl Pickens Landscapes location Auckland. $55 – $80 per hour.
Carl Pickens Landscapes is a specialized landscape practice based in Warkworth Auckland combining related disciplines of Landscape Architecture, Organic Horticulture, Native Ecology and Permaculture design. We are intimately involved in the implementation of the landscapes we design and run our own planting team.
We work predominantly with large scale rural landscapes and residential sites in provincial towns and cities. Our design approach is broad and inclusive - we regularly co-design with clients and related design professionals. We have experienced considerable growth over the last 3 years and are now ready to bring in another valued team member.
Key skills and experience required a degree n Landscape Architecture or a Landscape Design Diploma. A minimum 4-5 years experience (preferably with larger scale sites). Proficiency in vectorworks and adobe creative suite. Good people skills and a relaxed persona.
Someone interested in sustainability as it relates to habitat and permaculture. Good all-round design skills with both hardscape and plants. A degree of flexible availability that allows for (more or less) involvement on projects as required.
As you will be working alongside Carl, further attributes he appreciates include good generalised plant knowledge and a keen interest in planting design. Hand sketching ability. A genuinely curious approach to learning. A sense of humility when appropriate / required.
The business is a located at a home based studio in Warkworth, Auckland. Applicants will be required to regularly visit the Warkworth / Matakana / Mangawhai area for site visits, meetings, design collaboration, drafting work, supervision of the planting team, etc. Occasionally site visits take us further afield to Northland, the Waikato or Canterbury. We regularly visit beautiful locations that you would not otherwise easily have the chance to see.

Remuneration is negotiable and will be primarily based on an hourly rate and project budget. Hourly rates in this add are indicative only. Additional incentives / bonuses are also possible - particularly during the planting season.
