Our client has operations nationwide and pride themselves on their supportive environment and work-life balance. They are looking for an experienced Payroller to join their team as a Payroll Manager, working in a payroll team of two and reporting through to Head of People & Culture. You will inherit fantastic systems, streamlined Payroll processes and join a collaborative team.
About the role full responsibility of the Payroll function for the organisation, including the delivery of the waged and salaried payrolls, people analytics, systems and reporting, continuous improvement projects and audits. A key focus is to work closely with managers to upskill and coach around Payroll matters, remuneration reviews and so forth.
Key responsibilities lead weekly and monthly payroll processing and pay runs (350-400 employees). Review of payroll coordinators work (waged payroll processing). Process salaried employees pay. Respond to payroll queries and provide advice including resolving issues.
Provide specialist payroll advice for Collective Bargaining purposes. Handle end-of-month processing. File and reconcile IRD returns. Calculate pay, tax, deductions, and all aspects of reward using the payroll system. Ensure compliance with all employment laws. Support remuneration reviews across the organisation.
About you 5 years + New Zealand Payroll experience. Experience leading/managing end-to-end payroll of 200 employes +. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and upskill managers. Ideally experience working with collective agreements/unionized organisations. Strong communication skills. High level of expertise with NZ payroll and related legislation. Experience with a large payroll system; Payglobal, Chris21 or similar. Strong reporting and Excel skills.
