Youth Futures has been providing support services in Western Australia since 1988. We currently provide 28 programs and services across three core streams; Homelessness, Education and Training and Well-being and Support.

We have been delivering appropriate education programs for disengaged and at-risk young people since 2002 through the Anchor Point Program, Comet CaRE Schools and Youth Futures Community School. We are currently seeking a Youth Support and Development Worker for our new Anchor Point Mirrabooka Program.

Our successful appropriate education programs are designed to re-engage and support young people who have had difficulty in attending mainstream education. The goal is to ensure that students achieve relevant education certificates and possess the personal and social skills required to move onto the next stage, be that TAFE, employment, training or apprenticeships.

We are seeking an additional Youth Support and Development Worker to support and engage with Young People who will be attending our Anchor Point Program in Mirrabooka. The successful candidate will also ensure we are providing appropriate services to Young People dealing with a diverse range of issues and barriers.

The successful candidate will be experienced in working with young people who have been unable to succeed and have disengaged from mainstream education. You will be passionate about reengaging these students through the fostering of positive and professional relationships. You will provide case management and support to young people who are experiencing multiple barriers  to engaging in education and support services.

You will be flexible and able to adapt to the many and diverse needs of working with “at risk” young people in an educational setting, ensuring your practice is consistent with cultural, gender, developmental and other individual needs.  You will be comfortable working one on one with young people as well as being able to facilitate group activities and skills development sessions.

Qualifications youth Work, Social Work or an appropriate University Level Community Services qualification.

Essential requirements work effectively as an individual and as a member of a team who operate within a multidisciplinary framework. Sound engagement skills and the ability to establish and develop professional relationships that support families and assists student academic and personal achievement. You will be comfortable working with young people dealing with issues such as mental health, drug and alcohol and challenging behavior.

Possess high level written and interpersonal skills and be competent in using Microsoft and other computer programs. Prior knowledge of education, training pathways, minimum school leaving requirements and alternative education programs is desirable. Ability to work in partnership with other support agencies as well as District Education Offices. Willingness to assist students to transition beyond School into TAFE, employment, training or apprenticeships.

Previous experience in a similar role capacity to identify appropriate referral pathways for young people, particularly related to employment, education and training. Valid Apply First Aid Certified. Valid National Police Clearance. Valid Working with Children's Check. Current 'C' class WA driver's licence.

The position is to commence as soon as practical. The base Full Time rate for this position is $68,000 to $80,000 depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
