The Woomera Test Range Support Services (WTRSS) team are looking for a Systems Engineer with ICT experience to contribute to design, development and implementation improvements of the Woomera Test Range. In this role, you will contribute to the uplift and modernisation of the existing IT infrastructure, and introduce new capabilities driven by customer requirements.

As an IT Systems Engineer, you will:
Perform system design activities (including trade studies) to ensure that the system architecture is compatible with the baselined product and is consistent across all subsystems and that the system design will meet the system level performance requirements.
Maintain the design of the system including the specifications and interface requirements specifications as required.
Architect, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions across Windows and Linux environments.
Contribute to integration efforts with VMware, RedHat, and other virtualisation platforms.
Configure, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise-grade networking hardware and software stacks.
Apply strong cybersecurity practices in all development and deployment processes.
Ensure systems align with the Information Security Manual (ISM) and internal security standards.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Cybersecurity, Software, Engineering, and Technician Teams.
Travel to Woomera Test Range to support trial activities as required.
The successful candidate will have:
Bachelor or Masters degree in Engineering or equivalent.
2+ years of experience in engineering with an ICT systems or infrastructure emphasis.
Networking protocols & hardware (e.g., firewalls, switches, routing, VLANs)
Windows & Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred)
VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, and containerisation technologies
ISM compliance and cybersecurity frameworks
Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, PowerShell, Bash).
Proven ability to work independently in complex, regulated environments.
The following certifications are highly desirable:
RHCE / RHCSA (Red Hat)
VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent networking certifications
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent
Microsoft Certified: Azure / Windows Server
