The team Wellington's Waterfront and City Parks team are part of what makes Wellington a vibrant city . This team is responsible for ensuring the special and unique nature of the Waterfront remains as a recreational icon for the city. The team work to provide safe, vibrant, and enjoyable spaces at the heart of the city, managing the Wellington Waterfront as a key destination for residents and visitors alike. This includes commercial operations, events and place making, development projects and asset management.
The leader for this role Elizabeth Webley is collaborative and passionate about the waterfront, meeting visitors or checking things out most days of the week. The team are relationship builders, working closely with teams across the council as well as external stakeholders. They function as a cohesive and caring team.
The role the waterfront is your office in this role, and you will never be stuck behind a desk all week. This is a truly varied and busy role - you may be dealing with marinas one day, large scale events the next - open spaces, lighting, safety, parking, buildings, boats the list goes on.
You'll be responsible for a wide range of activities taking place on the waterfront, including contract & property management, and the usual element of administration duties that come with the role. We are looking to appoint between $66,560 and $78,306 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
About you you'll ideally have a background in property support, experience in an operational role and sound administration skills - and a good deal of practical and common sense. It will be a bonus if you have contract management experience - but not a must. We're looking for someone who can fit in to the team, but also add their own value and initiative.
Attention to detail is a must! You'll also be engaging and know the value of excellent customer service. And please don't rule yourself out if you don't tick every box - a lot of it we can (and will) teach. There is a physical element to this role, given you'll often be out and about on the waterfront - so you'll need to be comfortable with that.
Why us this is a unique role, there's only one waterfront in the CBD after all - but more than that you get work on truly fun and interesting things, sometimes quite random. The waterfront is a city within a city, and over 90% of events happen there. It's a meeting hub, an events centre, a place of recreation and a place where the team truly feels like kaitiaki, protecting and conserving it for generations to come.
