The Perioperative Service at the Royal Women’s Hospital is a comprehensive dedicated department incorporating all aspects involved in surgical intervention for patients. The Elective Surgery Booking office is the central business unit of Perioperative Services, coordinating all elective surgical bookings.
Your contribution the Elective Surgery Bookings Clerk, as part of the Perioperative Service team, provides administrative back up to clinicians to ensure that patients, their families, and support people are treated with care and efficiency.
Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following high-level data entry to ensure accurate data is entered on to the Women’s Elective Surgery Waiting List. Answering telephones, diverting calls as needed, photocopying and providing clerical and word processing support.
Updating patient details, confirmation of patient bookings, appointments and cancellations. Assist patients with general queries related to their admission and preadmission appointments.
About you to be successful within this role you will need to have well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to balance competing and conflicting priorities. Time management and prioritising. Previous experience in hospital clerical/administration. Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Office and email applications.

COVID-19 Vaccination requirement please be aware that in line with the Health Minister's Covid-19 Mandatory Vaccination Order, all workers at the Women's regardless of role, will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or hold an acceptable medical exemption.
If you were fully vaccinated (two doses) before the 12th of September 2021, you will also be required to provide evidence of having received a booster by the 12th of February 2022. If you received your second dose after the 12th of September 2021 and are not yet eligible to receive your booster, you will be required to show evidence of having received it by the 29th of March 2022.
Influenza Vaccination requirement in line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care. Evidence of vaccination is required.
As this role fits into category A or B of the departments risk ratings, applicants will be required to have been vaccinated against influenza. Evidence of vaccination is required.
