Canine Volunteer Liaison SPCA location Auckland.

In this rewarding role, you will coordinate, train, and support volunteers in our canine areas to ensure animals receive the best care possible.

You'll also play a vital role in promoting animal welfare and fostering a supportive environment where volunteers feel confident, welcomed, and appreciated.

About the role permanent full-time role (37.5 hours per week). Tuesday to Saturday 8.00am - 4.00pm. SPCA Centre Auckland - based in Mangere.

Volunteers are integral to the SPCA’s daily operations, contributing in a wide range of roles across the Centre. In this role, you will work closely with the Centre Volunteer Coordinator to manage the rostering, recruitment, and retention of SPCA canine volunteers. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to collaborate with passionate, like-minded individuals who are dedicated to making a difference for animals in need.

Your enthusiasm and dedication will see you coordinate volunteer recruitment, rostering, and retention for canine areas. Provide hands-on training and support to volunteers in the canine areas. Provide ongoing upskilling and support for volunteers through one-on-one sessions and group workshops.

Ensure all animals are cared for to SPCA's high standards, aligned with the Five Domains of Animal Welfare. Foster a positive, professional environment for volunteers, ensure they feel confident in their practices, welcomed and appreciated. Collaborate with the Centre Volunteer Coordinator to enhance the overall volunteer experience.

What we need from you have experience handling dogs and an understanding of canine behaviour and animal welfare (a relevant canine qualification is advantageous). Be physically active and capable of meeting the demands of the role. Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Have experience working with volunteers (preferred but not essential). Be organised, with strong administration and time management skills. Demonstrate empathy, resilience, and a positive attitude. Be comfortable with technology and able to learn new systems quickly. Be flexible to cover or swap shifts when needed.
