Volunteer Coordinator Howick Historical Village location Auckland.
He angitutanga, the opportunity the Howick Historical Village is owned and operated by the Howick & Districts Historical Society. It is a unique Living History Museum which tells the story of Auckland. Howick Historical Village has one of the most extensive collections of early history buildings in NZ, including raupo cottages, schools, cottages, a church, forge and general store.
Responsible for recruiting, training, support, and nurturing a large team of volunteers for all roles necessary for the effective operation of the Historical Village. Regular duties include filling and maintaining a monthly volunteer roster, communicating information to the volunteer team, organising, training, and social events, recruiting new volunteers, planning and managing community placements.
Mo te mahi, about the role work with local Volunteer organisations and community partners to diversify the Volunteer team. Liaise with, interview, and provide induction and training for new Volunteers. Regular communication and support for volunteers. Streamline and continue to improve volunteer recruitment processes. Manage and maintain volunteer database using Better impact.
Prepare a themed events programme and oversee in collaboration with the Senior Front of House and Retail Supervisor for the Meet the Villager Days. Liaise with community groups to schedule community work experience. Host Volunteer Liaison Group meetings take and distribute minutes/action points. Support maintenance and develop of costumes/wardrobe.
He korero mou, about you at least two years’ experience working with and supporting Volunteers in a people-focused environment. An understanding of the needs of Volunteers and the training and support required to manage Volunteers. Experience of development and delivery of training programmes. Experience within a museum, historic property or heritage site desirable. Knowledge of human resources desirable.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships with the Volunteer team, staff team, and external partners. Flexible approach to problem solving in a busy working environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Relevant IT skills of all Microsoft applications including Teams.
