PKW are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sheep Dairy Farm Assistant (Te Rau Hāpai Miraka Hipi) to assist on our brand new sheep milking farm. Set in the picturesque rolling landscapes of South Taranaki, the primary focus of the role is to assist the farm team with achieving its business objectives by providing comprehensive on-farm support to the Farm Manager and the 2IC Farm Manager.

The position of Sheep Dairy Farm Assistant encompasses the following Key accountabilities feed Management - assist with feed allocation and management. Stock Management - assist with daily milking and ensuring animal health and wellbeing is maintained to a high degree at all times. Assist with lambing, and the lamb rearing programme (if required), to achieve minimal losses and ensure high quality replacements are available for the flock in the future.

Farm/Asset Maintenance - assist with the maintenance of the farm and supporting infrastructure including buildings, equipment, machinery, fences and races as required. Behaviours - strive for sustainable business excellence, use initiative and flexibility in adapting to change, communicate in an inclusive manner. Health and Safety - Proactively contribute to Health and Safety initiatives internally to develop a positive health and safety culture.

Organisational responsibilities all policies and procedures are complied with including timely and accurate completion of administration requirements. This is a brand new purpose-built sheep dairying conversion boasting all of the latest technology and infrastructure.

New 36aside swing over herringbone with animal ID readers with automatic drafting system and in shed milk testing. 1,200m2 Ewe / lamb rearing barn. To house ewes in adverse weather conditions and lamb rearing shed in spring. New Machinery (tractors, side-by-sides, 2 Wheeler motorbike). The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding and empathy with aspirations for Māori economic development and of tikanga Māori.

Preferred candidates for this role will have previous recent experience in pastoral farm management and in particular with Dairy Operations (Bovine/Ovine). Sheep/Goat handling experience desired.
