What is a Train Signallers are responsible for coordinating, controlling and supervising train, locomotive and traffic movements within your area of control on the network and the operation of signalling equipment. The role requires substantial judgement and confidence in your ability resolve situations to ensure the safe and on-time movement of train services. You will be faced with multiple conflicting priorities and will have to negotiate effectively to meet business objectives for all services operating on the network.

What does the Training Program involve Trainees complete a twelve (12) week traineeship with Sydney Trains where you receive a combination of classroom and on-the-job training. Our on-the-job training will give you exposure to a variety of signal boxes including Penrith, St Marys, Clyde, Waterfall, Campbelltown, Gosford, Wyong, Lithgow and Mt Victoria. Please note that the business will endeavour to take your home location into consideration when allocating training locations, however due to training being held at various locations you will need to be flexible and may experience increased travel times during the course of training.

On completion of the training, you will be qualified Signaller and your role will move to a fixed location. Sydney Trains will endeavour to take location preferences into account, however locations at time of offer will be based on operational requirements.

Benefits and Requirements $1,138.75 per week plus additional allowances, leave loading and superannuation. Rostered 5 weeks Annual Leave. Free unlimited travel on NSW Government Trains, Buses and Ferries. Able to attend training for a period of up to 12 weeks across various locations in the Greater Sydney area. Available to work to a work-issued 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year rotating roster including shift work, weekends, nights and public holidays. Drivers licence and own transport an advantage as not all work locations are close to public transport and shift start/finish times at times do not align with available public transport.
