Job description traffic Camera Operator, it starts with you, Based at Flaxmere in Hawkes Bay, Band C, Police Employee, Shift Work, Multiple Positions Available, Permanent - full time and part time positions.

About the role as a Traffic Camera Operator, you will be an important part of our Road Policing Prevention team that deploys throughout the Hawkes Bay area. This position covers an expansive geographical area and will require you to work independently.

You will be required to deploy and set up at pre-approved sites and operate specialised speed detection equipment and a laptop to carry out speed detection.

Key accountabilities mobile Speed Camera Operation. Operating the speed camera as per policy requirements. Ensuring photographs are sent for processing within given timeframes. Giving evidence in Court when hearings are required. Monitoring sites and reporting any problems or faults. Provide clerical support to the RP Prevention team. Provide daily returns and correspondence as required.

NB Important Information during 2019 a cabinet decision was taken to transfer all traffic safety camera activities to Waka Kotahi from New Zealand Police, a programme of work is currently underway to manage the transfer of activities. These positions are permanent positions within NZ Police until the point of transition of cameras to Waka Kotahi, this is currently estimated to be June 2025. At the point of transition the TCO roles will be affected by restructure. Equivalent positions may be made available within Waka Kotahi, however should the employee chose not to take an equivalent role within Waka Kotahi, they will not lose their entitlement to redundancy.

Motivated and the ability to deal with challenging circumstances. A sound knowledge of computer applications, in particular Microsoft suites. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Additional Information must have a Full NZ Driver's licence. Must be able to drive a manual vehicle. To apply for this role you must be a NZ or Australian Citizen or NZ permanent resident.
