Service Stream is seeking an experienced Trades Assistant (Mechanical or Electrical) to join our Utilities team in Brisbane. This full-time role supports water and wastewater infrastructure under the Urban Utilities MECS contract.

About the role
Service Stream’s Utilities division is seeking a Trade Assistant (Mechanical and/or Electrical) to join our Brisbane team on a full-time, permanent basis. The Trade Assistant supports electrical and mechanical trades in performing reactive, corrective, and programmed maintenance on Urban Utilities Water and Wastewater assets. The role involves hands-on support, equipment operation, warehouse duties, and participation in after-hours maintenance as required.
Key responsibilities include assisting trades with maintenance and installations, liaising with clients on operational activities, completing required data and documentation, and supporting deliveries and procurement tasks. The Trade Assistant will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to ensure the continuous operation of critical infrastructure, promote health and safety improvements, and engage with external stakeholders. This position also offers opportunities to shadow tradespeople and develop technical skills for future career growth.
Skills and qualifications
Experience in similar role within the water industry (Desirable)
Experience in similar role or as TA in maintenance
JSEA and associated HSE documentation completions
National Licence to perform High Risk work (Desirable)
Experience using HIAB trucks
Experience driving Heavy Rigid trucks
Confined space entry experience
Willingness to upskill and undertake additional training for ongoing development and potential trade skills knowledge advancement.
