About the role as a Technical Support Officer, you will support our Digital Forensic experts in their work through the provision of technical and administrative services. You will be positioned as the first point of contact for the unit and will report to the Manager of the Southern Digital Forensic Unit in Dunedin.

Your role is vital in ensuring that investigation exhibits, and documentation is received from Police investigation staff and initial data extractions of the relevant exhibits are undertaken. In this role you will be providing technical support to the Digital Forensics experts.

You will assist internal staff with their requests by generating forensic copies of evidential items and carry out basic data extraction and recovery process from digital devices. You will also be dealing with high volumes of sensitive material and a high level of discretion is required.

Key accountabilities receiving exhibits, detailing the items and confirming accuracy. You will be required to document the receipt and release of exhibits. This is 'end to end exhibit management' and maintaining the exhibit chain of custody.

Creating forensic copies (cloning and extracting data) of evidential exhibits, including computers and cell phones. General administrative and reception duties, for example, answering the phone, dealing with incoming mail and maintaining the internal case management system.
