Description

IT Manager Cambridge University Press location Melbourne.

At Cambridge University Press, we are committed to advancing learning, knowledge and research worldwide. We exist to unlock people’s potential with the best learning and research solutions. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an IT Manager to join the Technology group.

About the role you will be required to provide local leadership and representation of our global Technology function within the Press’s Australian business. You will be responsible for ensuring that local IT operations make best use of our global service framework, driving efficiencies while meeting local user requirements.

This role is an important point of liaison between local users and global support teams, and you will be a crucial point of escalation for both the Australian team and your Technology colleagues. This is also a very hands-on role; as the Manager of a small local team, you will be required to assist with local desktop support, application and infrastructure maintenance.

You will be required to build excellent working relationships with colleagues across a number of Technology functions and time zones, as well as local stakeholders. The role will report into the Head of IT Operations (based in the UK), with local reporting and accountability to the Australian Branch Director.

About you will have a background in IT Support and Service Management, and be able to demonstrate that projects and functions under your leadership have produced quantifiable business benefits. Typically, you will possess at least 5 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field. Alternatively, you may be an experienced manager in another discipline who is looking to move into Technology. In this case you will be able to clearly demonstrate how your technical aptitude has enabled you to quickly learn and apply new technology skills and concepts in your career to-date.

You will have a passion for continuous improvement, and an understanding of Service Delivery in an ITIL-based framework. Qualifications in ITIL and at least one project management methodology (Agile, Prince2) are therefore also preferred.

Your combination of technical understanding and business acumen will enable you to take complex, theoretical explanations of new processes and services, and relate these practically to the Press’s Australian business operations. You will need to work closely with all local users and will be able to demonstrate your ability to communicate with colleagues of all levels, including senior level executives.

You will be highly organised and able to balance the rigours of delivering a high-level roadmap of local improvements, while assisting with day-to-day user support. You will be results-driven, decisive and focussed on delivering exceptional service locally through a combination of a small local Technology presence, supported by a substantial global team and offshore management.
