About the role

As a Support Worker with Activ, you will be making a real impact in the lives of others by helping people with disabilities through accommodation and community engagement. We currently have a permanent overnight sleep shift available in South Bunbury. There are 7 shifts a fortnight, including a weekend, and with the exception of one shift, hours range from the earliest start of 5pm, to the latest finish of 9am (typically 8 hours worked, broken by an onsite 8-hour sleep period).

Please note that for the 8 hour unpaid sleep period between 10pm-6am, you remain at the home and sleep in your own private room.

A typical day as a Support Worker may look like:

Supporting person-centred plans that identify a customer’s life goals and working to achieve them
Joining customers in recreational activities such as swimming, dancing, bingo, horseback riding, going to the gym, bowling and more
Supporting customers in daily living skills such as meal preparation, housekeeping, showering and toileting, medication administration and attending appointments
Ensuring positive behaviour support plans are followed; and
Administration duties and mandatory daily reports.
The ideal candidate will have:

Cert III in Individual Support (CHC33015 or CHC33021) – essential
Staff must also be willing to participate in swimming activities with customers - essential
Beneficial - Previous experience in supporting customers with bowel care, dysphagia, epilepsy and key word sign.
Live locally in the Bunbury region and be able to work the full roster
Have willingness to support customers of any gender by assisting with personal care (showering, toileting) and domestic duties (meal preparation, housekeeping)
Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
Passion for providing service and assistance and helping others live their best lives.
Previous experience or willingness to train in manual handling and medication administration.
Proven administration and computer literacy skills.
A valid driver’s licence and a willingness to use your private vehicle (with rebates available).
