Australia’s Submarine Company (ASC) built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. ASC have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

About the Opportunity

ASC is looking for qualified former submariners to become instructors, delivering Collins Class Submarine mechanical and electrical technical systems training to our workforce and our partners. Instructors will bring real-world submarine experience to the classroom.

ASC are the preferred training organisation of the Commonwealth of Australia (RAN), that has consistently trained submariners and exceeded every training benchmark.

You will be based with the ASC team at the Royal Australian Navy’s submarine training facility on HMAS Stirling, Garden Island.

Your role will deliver both classroom and practical scenario classes using a range of dedicated submarine training systems and innovative training technologies.

This is an opportunity for you to share your submarine systems expertise to meet our growing need to provide high quality training.

Depending on your skills and experience, you may be involved in training ASC workforce, RAN submarine crew, and Defence industry partners.

Responsibilities

Deliver submarine systems training in classroom, practical and virtual environments.
Assess student knowledge and skill development across the full range of submarine systems.
Assist with training development and instructional design.
Develop and maintain own knowledge and skills as both a submarine expert and an education professional.
About you

Dolphin Qualification.
5+ years of sea time experience on submarine operations.
Minimum Mechanical or Electrical Cert III Engineering Qualification.
Willingness to undertake Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Role model with confident presentation and communication skills.
Ability to utilise adult learning principles to develop knowledge and skills in others.
Maintenance and repair experience (mechanical or electrical).
Specialist operations of submarine auxiliary, propulsion and power distribution systems.
Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
