This is a casual contract working around studies over a 6-month period. The successful candidate must be located in Rockhampton.

About the role: Aurizon’s Rollingstock Engineering & Maintenance team is currently seeking a Student Engineer to support our Condition Monitoring team in Rockhampton on a 6-month casual basis.

This hands-on role is a fantastic opportunity for an engineering student to gain real-world experience in a large-scale rail operation. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll contribute to projects that support the maintenance and reliability of Aurizon’s freight fleet.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the Condition Monitoring team in reviewing, analysing, and reporting data from on-train and wayside monitoring systems
Assisting in the development and maintenance of documentation, procedures, and reports
Supporting investigations into rollingstock performance and failure events
Liaising with site-based teams to collect field data and perform basic technical reviews
Providing general engineering and administrative support as needed
About you: We’re looking for a motivated and curious individual who is currently completing a tertiary degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering and has:

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning
Effective written and verbal communication skills
The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
A passion for learning and contributing to real-world engineering projects
