Senior Support Officer Ministry of Education location Auckland.

We currently have a vacancy in the Business Support team located at the Maungawhau office, Auckland. Permanent, full-time role. Based in Maungawhau (Mt Eden office), Auckland. Help shape the future of education. He mea tārai e mātou te mātauranga kia rangatira ai, kia mana taurite ai ōna huanga.

We work to shape an education system that delivers equitable and excellent outcomes. At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga - Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

We are making significant changes to how we deliver our mahi by taking practical action to give effect to te Tiriti o Waitangi. Giving priority to regional and local voices. Delivering greater responsiveness, accessibility and integrated services and support. Improving feedback loops and information flows.

About our group and team located in the Auckland region, Senior Support Officers (SSO) report to the Support Manager providing project support to different teams and functions within the Ministry or collaborating with other team members to deliver shared services. The team plays a vital role in contributing to and achieving the Ministry's overall goals.

About this role senior Support Officers work closely with various learning support and education teams in the ministry and provide administrative support for key portfolios.

The range of activities they do include processing of portfolio applications, managing the correspondence of shared mailboxes, creating and updating portfolio tracking sheets, data entry and validation, data analysis, communication via phone calls and emails with the public, sector and internal staff, delivering corporate services, management of events, payroll administration for support workers, finance support and invoicing, and reception.

Following are the professional skills we are looking for excellent time management and planning skills to enable you to respond to changing needs and priorities and to ensure deadlines are met. Excellent attention to detail. Superb customer service mindset.

Solid written and oral communication skills. Ability to work closely with team members, and managers to help deliver organisational projects efficiently. Proficiency in Microsoft suite and especially MS Excel (intermediate to advance). Previous administration experience is preferred.
