Job Title: Senior Regional Adviser, Māori Agribusiness. Role type: Permanent, full-time, location: Gisborne, North Island. Salary range: $98,955 - $132,427 per annum depending on skills and experience. (Midpoint for this position is $115,691 per annum).

About the role we are seeking a Senior Regional Adviser to join our Māori Agribusiness directorate which sits within Māori Partnerships and Investment (MP&I). This directorate works with Māori to realise cultural, social, environmental, and economic outcomes by facilitating growth of Māori primary sector assets.

As a Senior Regional Adviser, you will lead and manage the delivery of initiatives enabling Māori to maximise the sustainable use of their primary sector assets in order to drive Māori economic development. This will be achieved through cultivating relationships with Māori, iwi, and other stakeholders in service of their aspirations in the food and fibre sector.

You will work as part of a national team that contribute to the success of the current government's primary sector priorities, focussing on Māori economic development. This will be achieved by identifying new initiatives, leveraging off the range of MPI funding programmes. As a senior Regional Adviser, you will facilitate conversations with Māori whenua businesses to assess funding options, form funding proposals and draft contracts using best practice.

You will also provide strategic analysis and advice to the Ministry on emerging and future issues, and opportunities & risks, concerning Māori primary sector economic development. This is a unique opportunity to partner with Māori, iwi, and hapū to achieve better outcomes for their economic development.

About you relationship management will be key to success in this role, so the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, an ability to communicate complex issues, and develop innovative solutions.

You will draw on your experience to enrich your work by using tikanga Māori and te reo Māori principals to facilitate engagement processes and to effectively present information to different groups. You will likely be working or have worked in the primary sector or a related industry with a good understanding of project and contract management to deliver a range of functions.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate experience of applying a range of generalist and specialist skills including relationship management, project management and contracts management to deliver a range of functions.

Experience and knowledge of tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori principals to facilitate consultation processes and to effectively present information to different Māori groups.

Experience working in the primary sector or related industry or science-based organisation. Ability to initiate and complete a number of tasks in an organised, logical and timely manner in order to deliver on organisational outcomes.

About the Team you will be based in our Gisborne office, reporting to the Regional Manager Central, and working with a supportive team of Regional Advisers based in Gisborne, Napier and Palmerston North. There may be some travel required at times, to connect with our regional teams and attend industry events.
