Senior Policy Analyst, Maori Health Strategy and Policy Ministry of Health location Wellington. Midpoint $119,209.
Fixed term or secondment opportunity until September 2025. Collaborative team, supportive culture and opportunities for development. Te Pou Hauora Māori (Māori Health Directorate) is looking for a Senior Policy Analyst to join their Strategy and Policy team, to ensure that all parts of the health system are working well with and for iwi and Māori to deliver quality care in ways that enable Māori to flourish.
Manatū Hauora is the chief steward of the health system. Te Pou Hauora Māori is the Ministry's primary advisor on Māori health policy, strategy, system performance for Māori, and Māori Crown relations. This includes leading the implementation of Pae Tū: Hauora Māori Strategy and Whakamaua: Māori Health Action Plan. Our team's work and influence is dynamic and wide-reaching, meaning you will be contributing to a wide variety of kaupapa.
In this role you will lead and contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality policy advice and strategy development. There will be ample opportunities for you to work through the full policy process and lead complex and challenging policy initiatives in collaboration with others to drive health system change.
You will be part of a dynamic and supportive team where building trusting and productive relationships across the Ministry, health sector, government, with Māori and other external stakeholders is highly valued.
What you'll bring relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience. Highly developed written and oral communication skills. Thorough understanding of public policy and experience in policy development.
Demonstrated knowledge of the machinery of government and political processes and structures. Excellent communication skills and ability to be clear and succinct in a range of settings. Experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles.
